Forecast Discussion – Fri May 03 2024

Today will be a “weather winner” as temps warm up with plenty of sun and light winds. And then we have the weekend, which has not been kind to us this Spring. We have a cold core, Pacific trough tracking thru the area Saturday and Sunday. The winds look to be the main hazard…For the Owens Valley, look for cool and windy weather (G 50 mph) in localized hot spots like Olancha, with a chance of rain showers Saturday night. For Mammoth Lakes, cool with strong winds (G 65 mph) along with a chance of snow Saturday into Sunday AM. Mammoth Main Lodge looks to pick up 5 – 8 inches and the Summit maybe double digits! Conditions slowly improve Sunday into early next week…DMATT
