Celebrate Spring with Eastern Sierra Land Trust

(Bishop, California) – Spring is in the air and Eastern Sierra Land Trust (ESLT) is getting ready to bloom! ESLT works to protect vital lands and preserve a healthy balance of uses — from ranching to biking, wildlife habitats to favorite fishing spots — that can be sustained forever, ensuring a strong local economy and healthy environment for generations to come. We have many free upcoming events so come on out and join us.

Tuesday May 1st we will have our Eat for ESLT fundraiser at Whiskey Creek. Dine at the Bishop or Mammoth Whiskey Creek and tell your server you want the profits of your dinner to benefit the conservation work of Eastern Sierra Land Trust.

Brown Bag Lunch Series returns! Come by the ESLT garden on your lunch break on Wednesday May 2nd from 12-1pm to learn about local sustainable agriculture. Steve Baldwin and Bruce Willey, the founders of Bishop Creek Farms, will speak about their community supported agriculture and having a blast providing fresh, healthy produce to the community. We’ll feature a monthly speaker the first Wednesday of every month through October for an informal chat about Amazing Encounters with the Land. Stay tuned for the June topic, to be announced soon.

On Thursday, May 3rd from 3:30-5:30pm we will host our 3rd annual Gardenfest, a celebration of the beginning of the 2012 garden season! Get gardening tips from Master Gardeners and buy local farm products. Bring your extra seeds for our Seed Swap and purchase seedlings from 4-H to get going on your own garden. Get inspired and celebrate spring in the Eastern Sierra! We will have snacks and free kid’s activities. This event will take place in the ESLT Garden at 176 Home St. in Bishop.

We have an exciting week ahead of us and you can join us for any of these events which are all free and open to the public. For more information or how to get involved, contact Victoria at 760-873-4554 or email [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you!
