RECREATION UPDATE – JUNE 2, 2023

Waterways are Running Full and Fast!

Make sure to check the conditions and know before you go! Waterways are running full and fast. Follow posted signs and avoid risks. Just six inches of water can knock you off your feet or cause you to lose control of your vehicle.

As of June 2, 2023 Closures and Restrictions:

TINEMAHA DAM & RESERVOIR

NO PUBLIC ACCESS due to active construction

READ PUBLIC NOTICE

PLEASANT VALLEY

CLOSED Pleasant Valley Campground

ROAD CLOSURES

Pleasant Valley Rd. will not affect access to the Pleasant Valley Pit Campground

Pleasant Valley Patrol Rd is CLOSED to vehicles

OWENS RIVER GORGE

CLOSED starting June 6 until June 25

READ PUBLIC NOTICE

ROUND VALLEY

ROAD CLOSURES

Boundary Rd. and County Rd. have minor flooding and water running down the shoulder due to lower snowmelt

SAD/HAPPY BOULDER AREA

NO PARKING on LADWP land in the area due to ongoing construction

Foot traffic is allowed on LADWP land to access the boulders

Owens River Rd. between Line Street and Warm Springs Rd – the closure will isolate the area Known as “The Ropes and High Banks”

Owens River Rd. between Warm Springs Rd and Collins Rd

Are these daily and numrerous COMMON SENSE warnings from the “authorities” about fast-running waters here in the Owens Valley getting to be annoying or what ?….if I hear or see “turn around-don’t drown” one more time, I’m gonna pull out my hair !!

mono resident My bet is, we’ll be rerading about more drownings in these fast-running high-waters before the tourist season ends…. that is IF it ever ends…wheather people are getting these monthly,weekly,daily,hourly by the minute “warnings ” or not.. Many tourists have no idea, simple as that. They need to be told, and you don’t need to waste your energy complaining about it.

Yep….
LOTS of tourist babysitting needed this Spring and Summer ahead…
Just kinda sad how common sense has evolved and eroded downward the past 5-10 years or so.
