Stacy Van Nest, Athletic Director for Bishop Union High School, wrote the following basketball schedule.
I am writing with the very unfortunate news that our west gym floor has sustained so much water damage that it is not physically safe to play basketball on. I am attaching our schedule, but I will go through the details below.
First and foremost, I would like to thank Mammoth High School for being willing to host us twice. That was the easiest one!
Second, I would like to thank the Bishop Paiute tribe for allowing us to host Boron, Rosamond, and Cal City. Also, thank you to Cal City for being willing to change home and away dates so that we would have gym availability closer to home.
Lastly, I would like to thank Lone Pine High school for allowing us to host Desert, Frazier Mountain, Mojave, and Kern Valley.
Thank you to everyone that came out, especially Bishop Fire Department, to try to clean up the water in a timely manner, but it was just too much.

So, who exactly is going to pay for the damages? And who thought reroofing the gym was a good idea during basketball season during the winter months?
Good questions Dean.
But do not expect answers – or any accountability.
I have learned the hard way that local government officials are above reproach.
They are infallible, whether when caught lying, violating the law, or just being incompetent.
PS Maybe the same contractor who built the new ugly County Administrative building put the roof on the high school gym – it leaked too!
