Press release

Mammoth Lakes, CA – Eastern Sierra Transit riders will see major improvements to their bus experience. Swiftly, Inc., a San Francisco-based mobility solutions company, has partnered with the Eastern Sierra Transit Authority (ESTA) to bring more accurate real-time transit predictions to the Eastern Sierra region.

As part of this pilot project, new GPS trackers have been installed on ESTA’s buses in Mammoth Lakes. Swiftly’s prediction algorithms then generate real-time arrival information for riders based on historical and real-time information collected from these trackers. These predictions are up to 20% more accurate than existing realtime information available to ESTA riders. Anyone can now access up-to-the-moment precise bus arrival predictions for ESTA’s Purple, Grey, and Town Trolley Lines right from their phone, via Swiftly’s mobile app and website platform, SMS texting, or phone service.

“We are excited for this opportunity to enhance the real-time arrival information we provide our passengers,” said John Helm, the Executive Director of Eastern Sierra Transit Authority. ”This is an improvement over existing real-time information at ESTA, and we’re confident this pilot program will make our transit system easier to use and more accessible to everyone in the Eastern Sierra region.”

Swiftly’s CEO Jonny Simkin shares ESTA’s enthusiasm: “We’re proud to have ESTA piloting our connected city technologies. This partnership will vastly improve the experience for people who rely on ESTA to get around the region, strengthening the system’s overall predictability and usability. ”

Mobile App
Swiftly’s free mobile app offers many features to help residents get around the Eastern Sierra region, including quick access to accurate real-time transit information and live maps with vehicle locations. In addition, the Swiftly mobile app also contains a real-time trip planner to help users compare the travel time and price of a variety of transportation options, including walking, biking, transit, rideshare, and more.

Furthermore, users can also report transit related issues, such as delays or
overcrowding, so that other riders along those same routes can be alerted of the issue. These crowd-sourced user reports are what make Swiftly a truly community-oriented mobile app for transportation. Riders can download the Swiftly mobile app for iOS at goswift.ly/ios.

Online, SMS, & Voice
Riders can also access ESTA’s real-time transit information & system map from any browser, either at home or from their smart phone, by going to: goswift.ly/ESTA

Alternatively, ESTA riders can text or call (760) 2011117, enter the appropriate bus stop number, and get the next three real-time arrivals for routes that serve that stop via voice or SMS message.
