I’m hearing rumors of a combo DFW / DUI check point on 395 this weekend.
Makes me wonder if DFW will be checking ice chest and counting fish. That would be crazy. Stocking trout really does stimulate the economy 😉
Most people do not realize how non-trivial it is to get these passes cleared. Difficult if not dangerous. The crews who get this done earn every dime.
Good job Caltrans on Sonora Pass!!! Sonora, Tioga and Ebbitt’s Passes are all incredible and these openings are a true sign that Spring is here… Driving 395 and looking up into the mountains, seeing the light snow pack, reminds me of 1976-1977… Monitor Pass has little snow…
Yay! Good job Caltrans crews!! 🙂
We’re excited about the early openings of the passes (Tioga scheduled to open approx. 5/11 per the Fresno Bee), but sad about the lack of snow and lack of water that will cause this summer. 🙁
