You spoke up and Sierra Wave Media listened. You have asked us not to not turn off the opportunity for you to make comments to our website news stories. We gave your requests a great deal of thought and looked at options in many different ways and we are pleased to let you know we will be able to keep the ability for you to make comments.
We were able to make some money available which has allowed us to engage a new moderator who will review all comments and post them to our website. There will be new “terms of use” posted giving guidelines on making the appropriate comments to help ensure they will be accepted for posting.
The employees of Sierra Wave Media/KSRW-FM 92.5 appreciate your loyalty and strive to continue to keep you informed and entertained. Please be sure to watch for new content and check our our new and improved newscasts on our website and YouTube page Eastern Sierra News. Also, we appreciate your support of our advertisers who allow us bring all of this to you.

It is very dangerous to allow comments in journalism. Too many people spread misinformation in the comments that offset the entire benefit of our heroic journalists.
I fully disagree with this decision and think that you should reevaluate the need for comments. There is no good reason for allowing them.
Are you sure that eliminating comments promotes “journalism “, are we to allow only point of view regarding truth? Who makes that dangerous decision? I guess you are not in favor of letters to the editor or in most newspapers opinion pages. Are you in favor of Facebook and/or twitter providing truthful information. Don’t confuse those two forums with truth or unbiased journalistic comments. Critical comments are important to further an informed electorate and challenge journalism. Providing only one point of view without comment is idiosyncratic.
There is MISINFORMATION on both sides of your front door .
Thank you SW! I have always enjoyed the engagement, and reading the variety of comments. Beyond the info in your stories, I’ll gain more understanding by the back and forth from the regulars in the comment section.. but having that wide range of intelligence and awareness in the comments, is the world we live in.
The Sierra Wave has always been a gift to the Eastern Sierra . The website is an important part of that, as is the exchange of public comments. The question of whether comments were to be continued is a reminder of what can happen as democracy declines. Thank You Sierra Wave for the decision to continue to provide this public forum .
Thanks, MC.
When you’re born you get a ticket to the freak show. When you’re born in America, you get a front row seat.
George Carlin
George Carlin, 3 Court Martial,s in the short time he was in the United States Air Force. Not a very good example to follow.
You know on my phone I can block unwanted callers with the push of a button. It would be nice to have this feature for the comments section.
Really. If you are offended about any of the discussions then your mouse doesn’t have to click the link. Be an adult, filter the comments, have an intelligent response. Most of us are interested in comments and can have an intellectual understanding and filter of real verse BS of posting.
Thanks Greg you will the first button I push. The 2nd will be your a-hole buddy Inyoface. Intelligence seems to have nothing to do with your comments. Only hate and discord.
You missed my discussion point. I did not post an offensive comment. Everyone has the opportunity to comment and because you don’t like the comment you should not have the right to sensor the right to free speech.
I’m with you desco. I like to read the comments and occasionally engage, but I don’t want the negativity interspersed.
Your phone is your property Desco ! Thank god we are not .
looks like another TYRANT wanna-be on this thread . lol
Thank you Sierra Wave.
You are very much appreciated for the timely news and comment section.
Reading the comments would be better if the troll would stop begging for attention.
I’m thinking more thumbs down are gleefully received so perhaps we should ignore and deprive them of the pleasure?
Just a thought.
You are all much appreciated, thank you for keeping us informed and the communication of our comments/opinions available to share. Have a great day everyone.
Kidding aside, thanks SWM.
This is great news, thank-you and much-appreciated!
The comments are useful, because they reveal local social problems, the mentalities of residents of Inyo and Mono County, and especially who to fear.
Thank you, I find the comments to be very informing and helpful most of the time. Even if at times what commenters have to say can be shocking. If I post a comment I do try and say something informative from my years of living in Owens Valley.
Freedom to Speak your Mind in the United States does not require that your Speech must be pleasant or acceptable to anybody.
INYOFACE, you do you and I will do me.
It is my preference to be kind to others even if I do not agree with what they are saying. I find it more inline with being a civilized society.
While the first amendment gives us free speech, the best quote “Can’t stand rudeness in a man simply won’t tolerate it” say’s it best for me.
I must agree with this post , I may come off as rude , BUT HEY .
At least i am not vulgar , I guess my generation can tend to be a bit more abrasive and caustic than young people these days .
but we had much more responsibility at a far younger age also.
actually, In Your Dotage, you are just a troll spamming this useful place for discourse between thinking humans. If all of us ignore you, your pathetic little spambot existence will shrivel like a slug on a sunny sidewalk. Run along now, and let the grownups talk among themselves.
Listening is a rare virtue these days, and thanks for doing it in this instance.
Thank you for doing your part in Maintaining and Protecting one of our Birthrights as American Citizens , The First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.
The first amendment does not apply to this web site. Sierra Wave has zero obligation to publish any comments. My question is; will they continue to allow pseudonyms to post false claims?
Well Russ ! Now tell us , Are you an employee of Sierra Wave ? Because you seem to be contradicting yourself . On one hand you do not require one of our Basic Civil Rights , Which is Freedom of Speech , While on the Other Hand you require our Identities . Would you also like to see my PAPERS PLEASE if you happen to see me out and about ?
I hope they keep pseudonyms because it keeps my identity unknown so you won’t see me in public and know how big of a jerk I am. Carry on…
Russ,
You still ranting about pen names year after year after year?
Are saying there are statements here that rise to defamation or false light? If so, you have legal avenues to deal with that. I’m sure SW does due diligence also and will remove anything you can show is libelous.
If you just don’t agree with others than you should start an outlet of your own to moderate. Maybe with inyoface. Birds of a feather easily ruffled.
Yes Pedro, I have not agreed with one aspect of the operation of this “outlet”, which I initiated many years ago.
Thank you very much. This is the only forum to receive timely updates and information. The Inyo register lacks content provided by this website. Keep up the good work and current news. The sheet has a more comprehensive news process than the register but it only is provided on a weekly basis.
Thank you. I’m very impressed at how quickly you responded to those that visit your forum. Even the down voter obviously tunes in once in a while.
