Scott German was one of the victims of the Willow Street Fire, and he was a huge Superman fan. As we were walking up the stairs at Sierra Wave, the group noticed my Superman tattoo and mentioned that Scott had shared the same passion, with a vast collection of Superman memorabilia that was tragically lost in the fire.

What Scott didn’t know is that a good friend of mine was the very first person to portray Clark Kent on the big screen back in 1948. When we reached my office, I pulled out my phone and called Mason Alan Dinehart III. We had a wonderful conversation, and at the end of it, I asked Mason if he would help Scott restart his Superman collection by signing a postcard-sized reproduction of the original 1948 Superman poster. Mason, being the great guy that he is, mailed it that very day. He also included a photo of himself playing Bat Masterson in The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp.
