WILL THEY EVER STOP TRYING TO TAKE THE LAND?

A controversial proposal to give a private developer access through Yosemite National Park is sparking renewed debate over public lands.

Kingsbarn Realty Capital, which purchased the 83-acre Hazel Green Ranch in 2024, wants a direct connection through Yosemite to Highway 120, significantly shortening the route to Yosemite Valley.

Previous requests during the Bush and Obama Presidency for a private road were rejected by federal officials and upheld in court. The new proposal would provide either a quarter-mile strip of parkland or a permanent access easement in exchange for private land of equal value.

Opponents argue the deal could set a dangerous precedent for future private development on protected public lands.

The government says no final decision has been made and environmental review and public notification would be required.

The question remains though: Will they ever stop trying to take the land?
