ESLT volunteers in 2011

Want to Live a Longer, Happier Life? – Volunteer!
Eastern Sierra Land Trust’s 3rd Annual Volunteer Orientation

(Bishop, California) – People who volunteer tend to live longer and be healthier than non-volunteers, according to a recent study by the American Psychological Association1. Eastern Sierra Land Trust is happy to announce our 3rd annual Volunteer Orientation, an event that will introduce interested people to ESLT’s mission to preserve critical lands and offer opportunities to become involved in our upcoming projects. The Orientation is free to the public and will be held on Saturday February 25, 2012 from 10-2pm at our office on 176 Home Street and reservations are required.

“We enjoy volunteering for ESLT, because it provides an opportunity to help preserve our beloved Eastern Sierra region while having fellowship with like-minded people!” says Kathy Varnum, a dedicated volunteer who has helped with mailings and the Great Sierra River Cleanup in previous years.
ESLT is a nonprofit organization that works to protect vital lands and preserve a healthy balance of uses — from ranching to biking, wildlife habitats to favorite fishing spots — that can be sustained forever, ensuring a strong local economy and healthy environment for generations to come.
The success of ESLT depends largely on the support given in time and energy by our generous volunteers. The Volunteer Orientation will provide an overview of our organization’s goals and programs, an introduction to staff and other volunteers and a discussion of how volunteer efforts contribute to our achievements.  We have a variety of fantastic volunteer opportunities such as guiding field trips, tabling at the Banff Film Festival and helping in our office garden, among many others.  The event will include lunch and guest speakers.
As we celebrate our 11th year, we look forward to working with our wonderful community to permanently preserve lands for the benefit of all. Come learn how to get involved and make a difference in your backyard on Saturday, February 25th!
