The taxes on motels and other rentals makes up a significant part of the Town’s revenue. According to officials this July marked the second best July for TOT in the Town’s history. They also0 note that growth was not uniform. Some motel or condo renters experienced double digit increases and others experienced double digit declines.

On the issue of transient rental of single family homes, the Mammoth Tourism and Recreation Commission talked about it recently and directed staff to research enforcement activities. The staff will check into it and set a meeting with the Town Council. A progress report for the Council is expected in a month or so.
