While not yet open to the west side of the Sierra, crews have opened highway 120 from Lee Vinning to Tioga Pass, according to Susan Lent of Caltrans.
Folks headed to Yosemite Valley or Tuolumne Meadows will have to wait a while longer, but those who want to head in to fish the lakes around Tioga Pass or ski the backcountry off the road this weekend, now have easy highway access.
National Park Officials wont estimate when the Tioga Pass road will be fully open from the west side, but plowing on the west side of the pass appears to be coming along quickly. At last report, crews are plowing through three feet of snow near Pywiack Dome, to the east of the troublesome avalanche zone at Olmstead point.
Susan Lent also reports that Bodie Road is also now open all the way to the Bodie State Historic Park.
