Press releases

The Bishop Chamber of Commerce has heard from many retailers and restaurants that would like to have an event to bring more shoppers and diners out in the evening.

On Friday, June 23rd, the chamber will host the SUMMER SOLTSTICE DOWNTOWN PARTY. They’re hopeful everyone will join in the fun!

All local restaurants and shops are encouraged to stay open until 9pm and offer something special such as product demonstrations, discounts, food samples and live entertainment. The Bishop Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a raffle to win a $250 shopping spree at the chamber-member business of the winner’s choice.

There is no fee for businesses to participate, but you should call the chamber so they may provide you with a raffle box and include your business in the event marketing.

For more information, contact April at the Bishop Chamber of Commerce (760)873-8405.

Let’s kickoff the summer with a picnic in the park! Join your friends and neighbors at the Bishop City Park on June 24th from 11AM-3PM, for food and fun times. City Park in Bishop will be bustling with activities, games (for kids and adults), local music and talent, crafts, and a general atmosphere conducive to having a great time with your neighbors.

Topping off the day’s activities will be a food contest: bring your best salsa, baked goods, some meat to grill, or a dish that showcases your cultural heritage; and enter the food contest to win great local prizes!

We’ll also be handing out awesome raffle prizes donated by local businesses — Getting a raffle ticket will be as easy as meeting new people and playing games.

Oh, and did we mention pool admission in the afternoon will be discounted to $3?

So come enjoy the summer kickoff with your neighbors: play games (for prizes), bring a picnic (food trucks will be present as well), enjoy some local talent, and showcase your own culinary abilities!

For questions, please contact [email protected]. Or find us on facebook at “Bishop Summer Kickoff”. If you plan on bringing a grill, we ask that you write us so we can give you relevant details.
