We stopped by this morning to document the damage caused by the fire, but out of respect for the ongoing investigation, we did not want to interfere with emergency personnel or investigative efforts. We will share more information as it becomes available.

Bishop Volunteer Fire Department

Structure Fire – Eastside Guesthouse & Bivy

On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at approximately 1:52 a.m., the Bishop Fire Department was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Main Street for a fully involved working structure fire with entrapment at the Eastside Guesthouse & Bivy.

Chief Russell arrived on scene and established “Bivy Command.” Bishop Police Department officers confirmed that all occupants were able to safely evacuate the building prior to fire personnel arrival.

Due to the size and complexity of the incident, Bishop Fire Department requested mutual aid assistance from CAL FIRE, Big Pine Fire Department, and Chalfant Valley Volunteer Fire Department.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No further information will be released at this time.
