Structure Fire at Trailer Park in Bishop: Five Structures Lost, No Injuries Reported

Bishop, CA — On August 11, 2024, at 8:15 PM, Bishop Fire and Police Departments were dispatched to a structure fire at 236 Willow Street in the City of Bishop. Upon arrival at 8:16 PM, police units reported that the structure was fully engulfed in flames and initiated evacuations as the fire began to spread to adjacent structures.

By 8:19 PM, Bishop Fire arrived on the scene. To support the efforts, Inyo County Sheriff, California Highway Patrol (CHP), and Mono County Sheriff’s Office responded for traffic control and additional evacuations. Big Pine Fire, Cal-Fire, and Chalfant Valley Fire also arrived to assist Bishop Fire in containing the blaze.

Despite the combined efforts of multiple fire departments and emergency services, the fire resulted in the loss of five structures. The Bishop Fire Department was able to halt the forward progress of the fire at approximately 9:09 PM, but the fire remained active and required several additional hours for full extinguishment and mop-up.

Fortunately, there were no civilian injuries reported. However, one firefighter sustained injuries. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but there is no suspicion of foul play.

We urge the public to avoid the area of the fire to ensure the safety and efficiency of emergency response efforts. Observers hinder access and may compromise the safety of both emergency personnel and bystanders. Please stay away from the scene and allow our dedicated teams to perform their critical work.
