Mono Lake Ranger District

Roads open: Sonora Pass (Hwy 108), Monitor Pass (Hwy 89), Ebbetts Pass (Hwy 4), Bodie Road (SR270), Lundy Canyon Road, Tioga Pass (Hwy 120 W), Saddlebag Road, Hwy 120 E (Mono Mills Road), June Lake Loop (Hwy158).

Campgrounds open: Lundy Canyon (county), Tioga Lake (est. closing 10/6), Junction (est. closing 10/6), Sawmill Walk-In (est. closing 10/6), Saddlebag Lake (est. closing 10/6), Saddlebag Lake Trailhead Group (est. closing 10/6), Ellery Lake (est. closing 10/6), Big Bend (est. closing 10/6), Aspen (est. closing 10/14),  Moraine (est. closing 10/14), Lower Lee Vining (est. closing 10/28, weather dependent), Aerie Crag (est. closing 10/20), Silver Lake (est. closing 11/3), Reversed Creek (est. closing 10/20), Gull Lake(est. closing 10/20), June Lake (est. closing 10/20), Oh Ridge (est. closing 10/20), Hartley Springs (est. closing 10/14), Glass Creek (est. closing 10/28, weather dependent), Obsidian Flat Group (9/30), Big Springs (est. closing 10/14), Upper Deadman (9/30), Lower Deadman (9/30).

The Mono Basin Visitor Center is open daily, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Fuelwood Permits on sale Monday-Sunday, 8:00 am to noon and 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

Mammoth Ranger District

Roads open: Mammoth Scenic Loop, Old Mammoth Road to Lake Mary Road, Lake Mary Road, Reds Meadow Road (shuttle from Reds Meadow Resort – weekends only –10:00 am – 3:30 pm).

Campgrounds open: Agnew Meadows Horse (est. closing 9/22), Agnew Meadows Group (est. closing 9/22), Agnew Meadows Family (est. closing 9/22), Pumice Flat (est. closing 10/6), Minaret Falls (est. closing 9/22), Reds Meadow (est. closing 10/6), Twin Lakes (est. closing 10/20), Lake Mary (est. closing 9/22), Lake George (est. closing 9/22), Pine City (est. closing 9/22), Coldwater (est. closing 9/22), Mammoth Mtn. RV Park (private, year-round), New Shady Rest (est. closing 11/3), Pine Glen Family/Group (est. closing 9/22), Brown’s Owens River (private), Convict Lake, Crowley (BLM).

Campgrounds closed: Upper Soda Springs, Pumice Flat Group, Old Shady Rest, Sherwin Creek.

NOTE: The Lakes Basin Fuels Reduction Project is beginning September 9th. Twin Lakes, Coldwater and Lake Mary campgrounds will no longer take reservations. They will be first-come – first-served only until the project starts.

 

The Mammoth Welcome Center is open daily 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Fuelwood Permits on sale Monday-Friday, 8:30 am – 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

 

The Devils Postpile Ranger Station is open daily 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.

White Mountain Ranger District

Roads open: McGee Creek Rd. Rock Creek Road, Buttermilk Rd., Bishop Creek Hwy 168 to Sabrina, North Lake Road, South Lake Rd., Silver Canyon Rd. (4×4-Hi Clearance), Wyman Canyon Rd. (4×4-HiClearance), White Mountain Road (4×4, high clearance vehicle recommended beyond Schulman Grove), Big Pine Canyon (Glacier Lodge) Road.

Temporary road closures due to fire – Tinemaha, Taboose Creek, McMurry Meadows. Please look to fire updates for the most current information.

Campgrounds open: McGee Creek, Tuff, French Camp, Aspen Group (res. only), Iris Meadow, Big Meadow, Palisade Group, East Fork, Pine Grove, Upper Pine Grove, Rock Creek, Rock Creek Lake Group (res. only), Mosquito Flat Backpacker, Horton (BLM), Pleasant Valley (County), Pleasant Valley Pit (BLM – no water), Bitterbrush, Big Trees, Forks, Intake 2, Bishop Park, Bishop Park Group, Sabrina,  North Lake, Four Jeffrey, Mt. Glen, Table Mountain Group, Willow, Grandview (no water, no trash service, firewood is limited),Cedar Flat Group, Sage Flat, Upper Sage Flat, Clyde Glacier Group, Palisade Glacier Group, Big Pine Creek.

Tinnemaha, Taboose Creek, and Goodale Campgrounds are closed due to the Taboose Fire, check incident updates for most current info.

The Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest Visitor Center is open – 10:00 am – 5:00 pm daily.

The White Mountain Ranger Station Visitor Center is open daily, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Fuelwood Permits are on sale Monday-Sunday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Mt Whitney Ranger District

Roads open: Foothill Road, Division Creek, Onion Valley Road (no water at trailhead), Whitney Portal Road, Horseshoe Meadow Road., Sherman Pass Road – (across Kern Plateau, access to Blackrock and Monache).

Campgrounds open: Independence Creek (County), Upper Grays Meadow and Lower Grays Meadow (est. closing 10/31), Onion Valley (no water, est. closing 10/31), Lone Pine (est. closing 10/31), Whitney Portal Campground (est. closing 10/31), Whitney Portal Group (est. closing 10/31),  Whitney Portal Trailhead, Tuttle Creek (BLM), Portagee Joe (County), Boulder Creek RV Resort, Diaz Lake (County), Cottonwood Lakes, Cottonwood Pass, Horseshoe Meadows Equestrian, Kennedy Meadows.

The Eastern Sierra Visitor Center in Lone Pine is open daily from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, no Fuelwood Permits available.

The Inyo National Forest is not in Fire Restrictions for fire hazard.

BLM is in Fire Restrictions for the season.

Emergencies can produce additional closures.
