A Community Crew Vehicle from Southern California Edison (SCE) has been prepositioned at Millpond Recreation Area.

Anyone affected by a power shutoff can receive assistance at the yellow and black Community Crew Vehicle at Millpond Recreation Area today, Wednesday, April 14, between the hours of 8:00 am and 10:00 pm.

This is in advance of possible Public Safety Power Shutoff or PSPS to prevent our electric system from becoming the source of ignition, due to high winds this week. The following areas may be affected by temporary power shut offs: Rovana, Mustang Mesa, Swall Meadows, and West Bishop.

The power cutoffs are intended to lessen the chance of fire or other danger caused by power lines that may be blown down during this week’s wind event.  Any power that is shut off will be restored after the powerlines have been repaired and/or passed safety inspections. There is no set schedule for the shut offs or restorations as they are subject to wind and other variables.

Millpond Recreation Area is just off Ed Powers Road, near Highway 395, a few miles north of Bishop. The Community Crew Vehicle can be found by keeping left on the road close to the pond at Millpond until you reach the last parking lot. Just look for the yellow and black vehicle and the helpful staff from SCE, today, Wednesday, April 14th from 8:00 am – 10:00 pm.

The Community Crew Vehicle will remain  until power has been restored and the danger from the wind event has passed.
