Road Closed

MONO COUNTY – Caltrans is closing three Mono County highways tomorrow, November 30, ahead of two forecasted snowstorms. State Route 89 (Monitor Pass) will be the first to close at 12:00 pm. At 4:00 pm, State Route 158 N (North June Lake Loop) will close, followed by State Route 270 (Bodie Road) at 8:00 pm. The three roads will be assessed for reopening after the weather events have passed.

Currently, Caltrans District 9 has four of its mountain roads in winter closures:

  • State Route 168 W at Aspendell
  • State Route 203 at Mammoth Mountain Inn
  • State Route 120 W at Lee Vining
  • State Route 108 (Sonora Pass)

Additionally, the Crestview Safety Roadside Rest Area in Mono County is closed for the winter. State Route 120 E (Mono Mills Road) remains in a storm closure and will also be assessed for reopening after the upcoming weather systems pass.

With the snowy season here, Caltrans is reminding all drivers to make sure they’re properly packed before traveling to higher elevations. To know if you’re fully prepared, Caltrans has put together a video detailing what you should pack before setting out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dO0k4fvd29w.
