Carmen Matson, 67 of Bishop.

 

According to Bishop Police Chief Chris Carter, within the last 60 days Carmen June Matson, 67, of Bishop  has been arrested for shoplifting items from multiple locations throughout the City of Bishop.   The value of these items has totaled over $1000 dollars in several cases, according to police.  In addition, the individual is currently under investigation for passing of a “Non-Sufficient Funds” check for over $600 to a local business.

Officers said when confronted, the Subject claims to be suffering from dementia and offers to return the items.  The Bishop Police Department has requested that the Inyo County District Attorney file charges against Suspect Matson and police are asking other local businesses to be aware of this suspect’s activities.  Police said, “Suspect Matson is presumed innocent until proven guilty however the Police Department has a responsibility to warn potential victims and seek out additional victims if they exist.”   Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Bishop Police Department, Detective Bryan Rossy at 760-873-5866.
