Department Processing Free YARTS Vouchers for Residents

MONO COUNTY, Calif. (June 13, 2024) – This summer, Mono County is rolling out a new program that allows for residents to reserve free tickets on the Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System (YARTS) into and through Yosemite National Park and surrounding communities. To receive free rides, individuals must fill out an application and show proof of residency, and then will receive a voucher number that must be entered when making a reservation online. Applications may take up to five days to process. This free voucher program will begin on July 1st and continue until the end of the summer season.

Mountain Rambler Brewery is located¬¬ at 186 South Main Street, Bishop, CA. The event, organized by ESIA, will be held at 7:00pm. A short presentation and discussion with the filmmaker and speakers will follow.

Weather Forecast June 11, 2024

Temperatures expected to rise today thru Thursday, as high pressure to our East transitions back into our Forecast area. Those temps won’t be of headline criteria (like last week), but still expect upper 90s to 100° most of this week in Bishop. Also expect isolated t-storms over Mammoth today.

Camp Like a Pro in California’s Eastern Sierra

MONO COUNTY, Calif. (JUNE 10, 2024) – As Summer approaches, Mono County, the Eastern Sierra Sustainable Recreation Partnership (ESSRP), and Mammoth Lakes Tourism (MLT) remind visitors and locals to Camp Like a Pro in the Eastern Sierra! Launched in 2021, the Camp Like a Pro campaign was established to provide information related to the education, stewardship, enforcement, mapping, and infrastructure around camping in Inyo and Mono Counties.

The award-winning Camp Like a Pro campaign includes a website with an interactive map (https://www.essrp.org/camping), as well as the Eastern Sierra Camping mobile app, available for both iPhone and Android users, which campers can utilize in the wild. This app allows users to download the map from the Camp Like a Pro website that shows where dispersed camping is allowed in areas you are visiting – and where it is not. Once downloaded, the map can be used with or without internet connection so you can wander wisely.

Low pressure will cut off near the Baja / CA coast today, as high pressure will wrap around and build back in Tuesday / Wednesday. What this means is cooler temps today then building heights Tuesday thru Thursday, with that high pressure nudging back over our Forecast Area.
