Weather Forecast for July 5th thru 7th
So what’s causing this long duration heatwave? We have an intense high pressure dome (597dm) sitting over CA / NV, with a strong lateral ridge stretching across the Southern CONUS. It’s sandwiched between a trough over the Gulf of Alaska and a trough over the Midwest.
Weather Forecast for July 4th
Our strong high pressure dome will remain parked over CA / NV and the Great Basin. So unfortunately, we will have no relief from the heat. Even the higher elevations will begin to feel the impacts of this heatwave, with Aspendel and Mammoth lakes clocking in at about 86° by Sunday. For our area, there is the potential for long standing temperature records to be challenged starting Saturday thru next Wednesday. (Read More)

facing in a south-easterly direction with the truck tractor blocking the soutbound lanes of US-6. Joma Henderson was transported for minor

RED, WHITE, AND BLUE LIGHTS: DRIVE SAFE THIS FOURTH OF JULY
In preparation for the Independence Day holiday, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is launching a statewide enforcement effort aimed at keeping the public safe on our roads. With unsafe speed being the main contributor to crashes in California, the CHP will focus on speed control and promoting safe driving practices throughout the holiday weekend.
“Speeding isn’t just breaking the law – it’s putting lives at risk. Every additional mile per hour reduces a driver’s reaction time and increases the severity of a crash,” said CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee. “We’re asking the public to choose safety over speed to ensure everyone gets home safely.”
