Daily t-storm chances continue today, and a Flood Watch has been issued for Mono County. With that, Wednesday is showing the deepest moisture with PWs (Perceptible Water) 0.90 – 1.25 inches. By Thursday, an upper trough over the PACNW will push our big ridge Eastward, shifting t-storms farther to the East and West. Highs will start to edge down Thursday as well, settling down to near normal through the area by the weekend. With that drier air, overnight lows wouldn’t be quite as warm. More tomorrow…DMATT

Woman with Heat Illness Rescued – Death Valley
DEATH VALLEY, Calif. – Bystanders helped rescue a woman suffering from heat illness in Death Valley National Park on July 18.
A man and a woman started hiking the Badlands Loop at 9:30 am, in temperatures around 110°F. The man later told park rangers that their hike was prolonged by getting lost. At some point, the woman was unable to continue walking, and the man returned to Zabriskie Point parking lot to get help.
There is no cell phone service in the area. A bystander drove five miles to report the medical emergency at Furnace Creek Visitor Center around 11:00 am. Air temperature was around 115°F at this point.
Weather Forecast for July 22nd
First the bad news. Hotter than normal temperatures will continue thru at least mid week, as that stubborn high pressure ridge refuses to budge. The ridge is now stuck over Nevada and California. That high pressure will continue to trap moisture underneath it, with PWs 0.9 inches. So isolated to scattered t-storms possible each afternoon, particularly over higher terrain, thru Wednesday. Now for the good news.
