Slowly, those who said they would run for Mammoth Town Council have begun to take real steps. Wednesday, the Town Clerk said one candidate came in for nomination papers.mammoth_town_office

Business owner Matthew Lehman had announced most recently among those who say they will run. Lehman describes himself as a long-time Mammoth resident – raised in town and returning to run a business. These years and connections with our community, he said in his statement, give me the sense that I have the pulse of our community ingrained into my character.

The Town Clerk said Lehman picked up his papers of candidacy yesterday. He looks to his involvement in town events and projects as reason for support. Lehman points to the quality of life as a feature that needs protection.

Lehman said, Caring for our environment is not a catchy punch line but a lifestyle we all strive to live by. Lehman has told some that he will run on promoting and marketing Mammoth. So far, he has not dived into the messy part of town government allegiances or rejections of other officials and bureaucrats.

It is expected that as many as four other candidates will seek paperwork.
