At last word an Olancha man remained in jail at Independence on $100,000 bail. 49-year-old Mohinder Singh was arrested on allegations of domestic violence and assault.

According to Inyo Sheriff’s officers, a nearby resident called deputies with a report that Singh had assaulted his wife. He faces two felony allegations – corporal injury to a spouse or domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon which was a hammer.

Deputies arrested Singh at his home in Olancha. Officers said the victim had sustained strikes with a hammer. Reports had indicated a history of abuse, but officers said Singh was arrested in relation to one incident.
