MUNICIPAL ELECTION

NOVEMBER 3, 2026

A Municipal Election will be held in the City of Bishop on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 for the purpose of electing two Councilmembers to full (four year) terms on the Bishop City Council.  Councilmembers are paid $500.00 per month.

Nomination Papers will be available from the City Clerk by appointment starting on Monday, July 13, 2026.

The deadline for filing Nomination Papers (for both candidates who are incumbents and candidates who are not incumbants) is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026.  The incumbents in the offices up for election are Stephen Muchovej and Karen Schwartz.  If an incumbent (i) does not file nomination papers by the August 7, 2026 deadline, or (ii) files nomination papers but the papers are then withdrawn by the August 7, 2026 deadline, then nomination papers for candidates (other than a person who was the incumbent on August 7, 2026) will continue to be accepted until August 12, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.  In order to be valid, nomination papers must be filed with the City Clerk’s Office and must comply with all applicable requirements of law.

Citizens interested in running for a seat on the City Council are encouraged to contact the City Clerk at (760) 873-5863 Extension 124 or [email protected] for further information.  The City Clerk’s Office is located at 377 West Line Street and is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for Friday, August 7, 2026 the City Clerk’s office will remain open until 5:00 p.m.

ELECCIONES MUNICIPALES

3 DE NOVIEMBRE DE 2026

Se celebrará una elección municipal en la ciudad de Bishop el martes 3 de noviembre de 2026 con el propósito de elegir a dos concejales para mandatos completos (de cuatro años) en el Ayuntamiento de Bishop.  Los concejales cobran 500.00 dólares al mes.

Los papeles de nominación estarán disponibles en el Secretario Municipal con cita previa a partir del lunes 13 de julio de 2026.

La fecha límite para presentar los papeles de nominación (tanto para candidatos titulares como para candidatos que no lo sean) es a las 5:00 p.m. del viernes 7 de agosto de 2026.  Los titulares en los cargos que se disputan son Stephen Muchovej y Karen Schwartz.  Si un titular (i) no presenta los papeles de nominación antes de la fecha límite del 7 de agosto de 2026, o (ii) presenta los papeles pero estos se retiran antes de la fecha límite del 7 de agosto de 2026, entonces los papeles de nominación de candidatos (excepto una persona que era titular el 7 de agosto de 2026) seguirán siendo aceptados hasta el 12 de agosto, 2026 a las 5:00 p.m.  Para que sean válidos, los papeles de nominación deben presentarse en la Oficina del Secretario Municipal y deben cumplir con todos los requisitos legales aplicables.
