In the upcoming election June 3, Mono County voters will decide on whether or not to recall current Assessor Jim Lovett, and if the measure succeeds, Lovett will be immediately replaced by one of four candidates. The deadline for filing was Thursday, March 20.
The candidates include current Mono County Assistant Assessor Bob Musil, Mammoth property appraiser Stu Bownes, State Board of Equalization employee Jody Henning and Crowley resident Keith Randy Cook.
Musil has been running the Assessors office in the absence of Assessor Lovett, and hopes to be elected so he might continue the work of improving efficiency and morale in the department.
Stu Bownes is a real estate appraiser out of Mammoth Lakes where he has been working as an appraiser since 2002. Bownes has pledged to bring integrity back to the assessors office.
Jody Hennings resume includes work in the Mono County Assessors Office, the Santa Barbara County Assessors Office, as well as eight years with the State Board of Equalization where she is currently employed.
Keith Randy Cook is a Mono County homeowner who has experience in auditing municipalities, and served as Assistant Finance Director of the City of Lomita. He has worked at MMSA and served as CFO of Snowcreek.
