FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Monitor Pass (State Route 89) Open
Mono County– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled the reopening of State Route 89, Monitor Pass for today at 12:00 noon.
Caltrans maintenance crews have gone through and repaired any sections that were damage by winter storms. And have determined that the pass is safe for reopening to the traveling public. The diligent work of Caltrans crews enabled the opening of the pass for motorists who utilize this route.
As is often the case this time of year, the opening of State Route 89 is dependent on favorable weather. If the area is impacted by inclement weather Caltrans may have to reclose the highway. Please check local highway conditions by calling 800-427-7623 or going online to: www.quickmap.dot.ca.gov before you begin your travel.
