Lone Pine Art Gallery Showcasing Local Artist

This Friday at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Lone Pine, the Chamber of Commerce and Art Gallery at 120 South Main Street will be hosting a chamber mixer featuring the works of local artist Vincent Leal whose works are currently on display.

Leal took photography in high school and later, while attending school in 1995 at East Los Angeles Community College, he worked at the Vincent Price Gallery. His exposure to the arts inspired him further to pursue his love of art in other areas.

Asked how best to describe his work, Leal thinks of himself first and foremost as a “conceptual” artist. Conceptualism is art in which the concept(s) or idea(s) involved in the work take precedence over traditional aesthetic and material concerns.

“You first develop a concept; the art medium is secondary and can be a drawing, an oil or acrylic, cut paper, or other medium,” says Leal.

Guests will be treated to a performance piece at 6:00 p.m. called “The Storm”. By demonstrating the “process” that goes into a work of art, Leal hopes to further the understanding and appreciation of art in its many forms.

Refreshments of cheese and wine will be provided.
