Park Serviceofficials report asad ending to the search for a missing backpacker.
A week after major search efforts were called off, the body of missing back packer Ottorina Bonaventura has been found.

Adrienne Freeman with the Park Service writes that the remains of the 80 year old woman were found Tuesday in the Echo Creek drainage, southwest of Tuolumne Meadows.

Friends reported the woman missing when she failed to return to the Vogelsang High Sierra Camp after a day-hike on Jul 30.

Over 150 searchers from counties throughout California, the National Park Service, and park concessionaires participated in the search effort.The Park Servicescaled back the search efforts back to local resources after a week of searching.

Freeman reports that the cause of death is still under investigation.
