Mammoth competed at the DML Finals at Knight High School in Palmdale on Wednesday, May 6th.

“We have a small team but everyone made it to DML Finals this year which was fantastic,” Mammoth coach Rita Kirkeby said. “Conditions were a bit challenging at Finals with wind gusts up to 45mph, thank you to all the volunteers that helped make the meet happen.”

Varsity Boys

Mammoth had its first ever boys 4 x 100m relay team finishing in 7th place improving their time from DML Invite by 2 seconds.

A personal best!

  • Jumped 17 feet – 7 inches for a 5th place finish

Varsity Girls

The Mammoth Varsity Girls team finished 4th Place in the league with only 3 girls competing on the team.

  • 4th Place in the 300Low Hurdles

Mammoth’s first girl Shot Putter at MHS! Kylie improve her personal best by 2 feet this season at DML Prelims with a throw of  21 feet – 4 inches.

  • Fighting the 45mph wind gusts, Kylie threw 18 feet 9 inches for an 11thPlace at DML finals.

Amanda Kirkeby competed in 3 events at DML finals.

Finishing off her Senior year, earning her 13th Varsity Letter at MHS throughout her 4 year career.

  • 7th in Long Jump with a jump of 13feet 5 ¾ inches
  • 6th in the 300Low hurdles
  • 4th in the High Jump with a jump of 4 feet 6 inches

“ Good luck to Amanda next year.  She will be attending Middlebury College in Vermont, where she will be competing on the Cross Country Ski Team and Track and Field team.”

“Also, a big thank you to Kathi Kirkeby, who stepped in and volunteered as assistant coach this year.  Her help was greatly appreciated.

I’m super proud of this group of kids.  Each athlete improved in their individual events throughout our short season.  Good luck in the future to seniors Kylie, Sophia, Juan, Carson, and Amanda!”
