As expected, members of the Mammoth Hospital Board appointed their former colleague to a board vacancy.
When board chair Don Sage resigned, board members said they couldn’t think of anyone better to replace him than Linda Salcido. She had sought re-election in November but lost.
When the board tried to vote her in, their attorney said they had to issue public notice of the vacancy first. So, they did. Word of the vacancy got out to the public slowly, but when it did four other people submitted their names for possible appointment.
With concerns that it was already a done deal, members of the Mammoth public watched the appointment process. When the board met Thursday, they voted for Salcido’s appointment on a 3 to 1 vote. Dr. Dennis Crunk was the no vote.
Private citizen discussions pointed to the wish for new blood on the hospital board. Voters did support Crunk with the most votes in the board election. Jack Copeland was also re-elected.
