Town of Mammoth officials and others met with Mammoth Mountain Ski Area today at noon, and the Town has now issued an improvement permit for the official reconstruction of the Lake Mary Road bridge and tunnel.

According to Town officials, the steel structure of the bridge and tunnel should go up this week-end. Construction completion – still expected for November 26th. Access to the Lakes Basin remains closed close to the project site.

Traffic has been re-directed to Old Mammoth Road which the Town will keep graded and sanded for access to the Lakes Basin until the project is done.

The other project in the same area – the new bike path by Speiss Construction. Officials said that crews continue to work on retaining walls in the Ski Run Villas area. They had hoped to complete grading for the new path by the end of this fall, but the bridge collapse and re-construction interrupted the bike path project.

That project will resume next spring for completion.
