Keller Will Appear for Prelilminary Hearing in Bishop Murder Case

In the main courtroom at the Courthouse in Independence Thursday morning, 17-year-old Edward Keller, Jr. of Bishop will appear for a preliminary hearing. He faces one count of murder.

It was during the Thanksgiving Holiday last year that deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at a home on Barlow Lane. Officers said they found a man with a head wound, who died, and another man passed out beside him. That unconscious man was initially charged with the murder.

But Inyo Sheriff’s officers said that in early December Keller confessed to the murder of 29-year-old James Williams. Although Keller was a juvenile at the time of the crime, authorities say he will be tried as an adult.

Some reports have indicated that Keller’s attorney may file a motion for change of venue
