SMoke and Mirrors

Smoke and Mirrors, named “Critic’s Choice” by the Los Angeles Times, is a heartfelt comedy-drama within a mind-bending magic show. This family-friendly entertainment is a poignant yet humorous production packed with magic tricks, elaborate illusions, special effects, improvisation, audience participation, and spooky Houdini séances.

“We are very excited to bring this show to Mammoth,” said Mammoth Lakes Repertory Theatre’s Artistic Director Shira Dubrovner. “It received terrific reviews in Los Angeles, playing to sold-out houses. This is just the type of programming we look for to expand our season and provide quality entertainment both for our community and our guests.”

“If you’ve forgotten the childlike joy and sublime wonderment of seeing magic performed, Albie Selznick’s theatrical show is an enchanting reminder,” said LA Weekly. Smoke and Mirrors is a semi-autobiographical fantastical coming-of-age story about a boy who uses magic to escape reality and face the world after the death of his father. Created by and starring noted actor Albie Selznick (Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Dexter, etc.) and Magician (a lifetime member of Hollywood’s Magic Castle).

Selznick takes the audience on his healing journey while enlisting the assistance of Trix (a life-sized rabbit), The Oracle (a giant talking orb), and Bessie Houdini, who makes a rather startling appearance!

The show is written and performed by Albie Selznick. Directed by Paul Millet. Produced by Michelle Grant. Co-produced by Danielle Gautier.
