Who can resist Hollywood and the movies? 17,000 people who attended the California State Fair could not resist the Inyo-Mono counties booth that featured movies and sets used and filmed in the Eastern Sierra.

Rich and Kathy White of the Independence Chamber of Commerce manned the booth and passed the word about its huge popularity.

They said that 17,000 people visited the exhibit during the 18 days of the Fair people who talked to the Whites about visiting our area and who picked up over 10,000 pieces of literature about Inyo-Mono.

Ruby Garzas mural of both counties showed where movies have been made. The Whites said they heard comments like I love vacationing there and I would never have known about the Eastern Sierra had I not visited the exhibit in previous years. Mono Lake and Bodie were the most commented on locations. Many didn’t realize how many movies had been filmed here.
