A 60-year-old Independence resident has been arrested for possession of property allegedly stolen from the LA Department of Water and Power.
Carma Roper, with the Inyo Sheriffs Department, reports that on Friday, Inyo Sheriff Deputies, DWP investigators, and Forest Service personnel served a search warrant at a cabin in at the Seven Pines Tract above the town of Independence.
The owner of the cabin, Clarke Henry Lenox, was arrested after officers found tools and other equipment belonging to DWP. Officials from DWP had reported the alleged theft, prior to the warrant being served, Roper says. They recovered items have an estimated value of $8,000.
Sheriff officials say that Lenox was booked at the Inyo County Jail for felony possession of stolen property, and officials note that the investigation remains open.
