Huskies Put Together Impressive Week, Push Winning Streak to Four

The Mammoth Huskies boys varsity basketball team put together an impressive and confidence-building week, earning three wins and continuing to show rapid growth early in the season. With victories over Whittell, Big Pine, and Frazier Mountain, the Huskies are establishing themselves as a disciplined, physical team with momentum on their side.

Mammoth opened the week on the road against Whittell, setting the tone with strong defense and control in the paint. The Huskies pulled away for a 48–38 win behind another dominant performance from sophmore Asher Block, who finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Block’s defensive presence remained a constant, as he continued his streak of recording at least four blocks in every game this season.

The Huskies returned to action Thursday night against Big Pine and delivered their most complete performance of the year. Mammoth applied pressure from start to finish, moving the ball well offensively and limiting scoring opportunities on the other end. The result was a commanding 67–22 victory. Block led the charge once again, scoring 30 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, pushing his season scoring average to 17.5 points per game.

With little turnaround time, Mammoth faced Frazier Mountain on Friday and showed composure in a lower-scoring, physical contest. The Huskies controlled the tempo defensively and executed in key moments to secure a 38–29 win. Block added his third double-double of the week with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while senior DJ Gray provided a spark, scoring a career-high 12 points and giving Mammoth a crucial offensive boost.

The three-win stretch lifted Mammoth’s record to 4–1 and marked a significant step forward from last season. The Huskies are proving to be a tough, defense-oriented team that rebounds well, protects the rim, and continues to develop reliable scoring options.

As the season moves toward the holiday break, Mammoth carries momentum, confidence, and a clear identity—one that has the Huskies looking like a team to watch in the weeks ahead.
