Halloween is here — and it falls on a Friday this year, which means celebrations may last well into the night. While excitement fills the air, please take extra time to ensure everyone stays safe.
For parents, hold your children’s hands when crossing streets and stay alert for drivers who may not be paying attention. For those heading to Halloween parties, plan ahead — have a designated driver or call someone for a ride. Even one drink is too many when it comes to getting behind the wheel.
Protect our children and one another. I am still haunted by a “don’t drink and drive” video I saw back in high school — the story of a father who stayed at the bar too long. He rushed home, asked where his son was, and his wife said, “He was standing in the driveway waiting for you.” That story, tragically, wasn’t fiction and I know you know how it ended.
Please, make safe choices tonight. One moment of care can save a lifetime of regret.
