Rock and roll pioneer Freddy “Boom Boom” Cannon has passed away at the age of 89, leaving behind an explosive musical legacy and a community of deeply saddened fans, including his close friends and listeners at KSRW-FM.

​Cannon died in hospice care in Oxnard, California, following a brief battle with cancer. Known for his signature, thumping drumbeats and unmatched vocal energy, he was a true anchor of early rock and roll.
