From the Bishop Office of the CHP. “On 12/20/19 at approximately 5:27 PM, a 29 year old male from Albuquerque, NM, was driving a 2018 Nissan Sentra eastbound on SR-190 near Slab City and was directly behind another vehicle that was also traveling eastbound on SR-190 at approximately 50 MPH. At the same time, a 53 year old male from Chandler, AZ, was driving a 2018 Honda Accord westbound on SR-190, approaching the Nissan from the opposite direction.
The driver of the Nissan went into the westbound lane and attempted to pass the vehicle ahead without sufficient clearance. The Nissan and Honda collided head-on, causing major damage to both vehicles. One passenger of the Honda sustained multiple tramatic injuries and succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The remaining seven victims we’re immediately transported to medical care facilies.”

It’s 6 and a half hours from here. CHP screwed up its press release and Sierrawave didn’t catch it. Maybe CHP should stay out of the news business?
Maybe you should do more research before you comment. SR 190 runs from Olancha through Death Valley to highway 127. The accident occurred 6 miles east of Death Valley National Park. Check Wikipedia for location or better yet go to pvtimes.com for confirmation.
WHERE is “Slab City”????? Googled it and it is in Imperial County????
There is a Slab City off of 190. I’ve had to do investigations for Caltrans out there. CHP is correct.
We may need to breath test our local CHP a little more often!
Talc City maybe? I’ve not heard of a slab city in Inyo.
It’s strange anarchic settlement deep in Imperial County (east of the Salton Sea). Weird stuff, weird people.
Slab City is in Imperial County.
