Emergency Crews Continue Fighting Wildland Fire on NAWS China Lake North Range

China Lake, Calif.— Yesterday, a wildland fire ignited in a remote area of the North Range at Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS) China Lake. Emergency response crews worked tirelessly through the night and continue efforts to suppress the fire.

The fire continues to pose no direct threat to personnel, base facilities, or the surrounding communities. NAWS China Lake remains mission-capable and all main-side facilities, programs and services continue normal operations.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. Base personnel are advised to avoid the affected area to allow unrestricted access for firefighting equipment and personnel.
