US Highway 395 was closed between Independence to Big Pine about 1:30 p.m. Friday.

A press release from CalTrans said, “Due to the current wind conditions in the Eastern Sierra’s, Hwy 395 has been closed from Independence to Big Pine.  Visibility is zero due to dust.

“The Highway may reopen around dusk if the wind subsides.”
