MAMMOTH HOSPITAL ENTRANCEMammoth Hospital Earns Prestigious Healthcare District-of-the-Year Award 2012

The Southern Mono Healthcare District (dba Mammoth Hospital) was awarded the Healthcare District-of-the-Year presented by the Association of California Healthcare Districts (ACHD). Mammoth Hospital was recognized for motivational approaches to improve the vitality of the business, for outstanding contributions that have positively impacted the community, and for contributions impacting local and state-wide health care programs.

Highlights for motivational approaches included Mammoth Hospital’s “We Hear You” campaign focusing on providing highest quality of care and services at reasonable prices.  Reducing prices for over-the-counter medications and vaccinations are examples of this initiative.  Implementing the “Success Sharing” program which financially rewards staff for achieving organizational goals is another focus for which Mammoth Hospital is improving the vitality of the business.

ACHD was impressed with Mammoth Hospital’s innovative programs that have positively impacted the community. Recognition was given to the partnering with the local high school supporting the Health Science Academy designed to provide students with job shadowing and mentoring opportunities. Focus was also given to partnering with Cerro Coso Community College LVN program providing instructional and clinical modules. Additionally, supporting the community through the cancer support programs and discounted lab wellness days were also recognized as a positive impact on the community.

Mammoth Hospital contributions that have impacted state-wide initiatives include the hospital’s participation in the DVD “Where We Stand” focusing on the Health Science Academy encouraging students state-wide to make a difference in health care decision-making and encouraging students to pursue health care careers. ACHD recognition for state-wide initiatives included highlighting a visit from Assembly-member Kristin Olsen to Mammoth Hospital hosted by CEO Gary Boyd with a tour of the hospital and clinics. Olsen was impressed with the overall state-of-the-art facilities, breadth of services, as well as the number of specialties the District has to offer.
