Devils Postpile National Monument Announces Finding of No Significant Impact for the Park’s Wastewater Treatment System Replacement Project EA

Devils Postpile National Monument announces release of the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Determination of Non-Impairment for the park’s Wastewater Treatment System Replacement Project EA.

The preferred alternative/proposed action was selected. Under the selected alternative, the park will:

  • Test percolation rates for and install a new leachfield, septic tanks, and associated piping for the wastewater system which serves the visitor center and administrative areas of the park.
  • Replace the comfort stations in the park’s campground and day-use area with improved accessible restroom facilities.
  • Add vault toilets to expand capacity during holiday weekends, which will better serve visitors coming to experience Devils Postpile National Monument.
The implementation of this critical project will help Devils Postpile National Monument to protect the watershed and sensitive natural resources. It will also enhance the overall visitor experience for all current and future visitors who come to Devils Postpile National Monument.
The FONSI, EA and all related documents are available at the following weblink:  https://parkplanning.nps.gov/depo_wastewater.
