Forecast Discussion – Fri Jan 12 2024
A cold and dry air mass continues to make its presence felt today. The last storm did indeed outperform my estimates, with the Main lodge picking up 13 inches. Saturday for Mammoth a weaker storm arrives (the Owens Valley as well). This storm is a bit warmer, say levels @ 5,000 – 6,000 feet. So 4 – 7 inches of snow is possible on Mammoth Summit and a slight chance of rain / snow showers for the Owens Valley. As early as Sunday, dry weather begins to work its way into our area, as high pressure starts to build over the West coast. We should see mostly sunny skies and light winds. That high pressure is forecast to remain over CA thru at least the 17th. Have a Great “Go Do It” Weekend…DMATT
