I would like to reach out to correct the misconception related to the City agreement with Wood Rogers. As a small City, there are many disciplines of professional services that we are not able to have on our staff. There are also very robust and restrictive procurement requirements on a governmental agency. So, in order to address that and provide dexterity for our team to be able to retain these types of services, in 2023, the City of Bishop issued a Request for Qualifications for what we call “on-call services”. At that time the City entered into 3–5-year agreements with five firms that provide a variety of professional services, including engineering, planning, landscape architecture, surveying etc. Wood Rogers is one of those firms that provides a variety of services to our City. I want to assure you that there is no conflict with this firm; they are a respected and reputable organization.
The Park Master Plan is a process that started last year, including public input meetings last summer, this is a continuation of that process and will allow for us to hear from the community about what facilities are wanted in the park. As you have heard at the last Council meeting, there is a current discussion between tennis and pickleball uses, and there has also been public comment supporting additional or improved soccer facilities.
As the new City Administrator, I am working hard to pick up projects that have been put on hold due to competing priorities.
I am open to meeting and talking with you and any members of the community to discuss the details of these projects and what we are doing. I think there is a lot of confusion and misinformation, and I am working to get the correct information out there. We might not always agree, but I believe in dialogue and invite you to always reach out to me with your questions or thoughts.
Thank you,
Pam
