On July 12, 2024, at approximately 1600 hours, CHP Bishop was notified of a single-vehicle off-road injury collision involving one driver and
one passenger on Starlight Drive just west of SR-168. Due to the severity of the call, Bishop CI-IP Officers were assisted by Sierra Lifeflight,
Inyo County Sheriff’s Office, Bishop Fire Department, and CAL Fire.
Upon arriving on scene officers along with medical personal located the injured parties at approximately 1615 hours. Both Parties were alert
and breathing but in critical condition and in desperate need of medical attention. Due to the quick action of the officers and medical on
the scene, both parties were immediately transported to Northern Inyo Hospital for Medical attention. Upon arrival at Northern Inyo Hospital, the
passenger received the highest level of care possible. It was determined by medical personnel that the passenger needed to be transported to
receive a higher level of care due to the extent of his injuries. upon arrival at the hospital, the passenger passed away from the extent of his
injuries on July 13, 2024, at approximately 0028 hours.
