Memorial Day – a chance to honor our veterans for their dedicated service. For many it is a chance to travel and that's where the CHP comes in.
Traffic is usually quite heavy on the upcoming holiday, which is, of course, also Mule Days in Bishop. To keep tabs on motorists, the CHP will increase deployment throughout the Bishop area.
The 3-day maximum enforcement period means all available officers will be out patrolling the roadways starting Friday at 6pm through midnight Monday. This holds true for both Inyo and Mono County CHP.
CHP Captain Joe Flores said that due to the large number of visitors in the area, Bishop CHP has supplemented its numbers with additional officers from the Division level. Officers will be on the lookout for seatbelt violators, speeders and motorists who drink and drive.
