The Mono Sheriff’s investigation into the death of 59 year old Geoff Carreiro of Mammoth Lakes did not reach an absolute conclusion on how he died, but friends and family will gather to honor Carreiro on Saturday.

A Celebration of Life gathering of friends and family will take place Saturday, January 31st at 1pm at the Mammoth Welcome Center/ Ranger Station Auditorium.

Carreiro was best known for his work with the Forest Service as an Off Highway Vehicle and Over the Snow patrolman. Carreiro grew up in Hermosa Beach and in Mammoth Lakes he coached the ski team at the high school and elementary school. He also worked as a teacher’s aide.

Carreiro worked 15 years for the Forest Service.

The Celebration of Life is Saturday at 1pm at the Mammoth Welcome Center/ Ranger Station Auditorium. Bring photos and stories to share.

A reception will follow from 2pm to 5pm at Roberto’s Mexican Restaurant. The family has requested that instead of flowers, donations be made to the Mammoth Elementary School Ski Program in Geoff’s name.
