May 26, 1920 – December 24, 2012

Mammoth Hospital Auxiliary invites the community to join us as we share happy memories and celebrate the life of Jeanne Standley who passed away on December 24, 2012.  It will be Wednesday, January 30, 2013, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Mammoth Lakes Community Center on Forest Trail, just east of Minaret.

Jeanne was an institution in our town for over 50 years and known by nearly everyone. She was a charter and founding member of the Mammoth Hospital Auxiliary and served on the Board until 2012.  She led the community drive to pass the bonds that resulted in the construction and opening of Mammoth Hospital in 1978.  She served as a Hospital District Board member in the formative years alongside other local figures like Dave McCoy.  She also gave of her time generously on behalf of other volunteer organizations in the community.

Those who shop at The Cast Off will remember seeing Jeanne’s smiling face every Tuesday and Saturday.  She was everyone’s “Mom” or “Grandma.”  Please join us and help celebrate the life of this remarkable woman.

People like Ms. Standley are what make this country what it is. With all the pessimism generated by politics and cultural coarsening generated by Hollywood, we still remain blessed with great Americans like Jeanne. R.I.P.

Jeanne was a nice woman, always smiling on those Saturdays I’d shop at the Cast Off. She will be missed.
